Porter Robinson has been on a bit of a mission to show to everyone that he's not the same producer he was just a few years ago, and reinforced this message with his latest single, Lionhearted. Everything we've seen of his first album has so far been a wild departure from the hard hitting electro sounds we'd gotten used to. Instead, he's chosen to focus more on the songwriting and less on the drops, and the results have been great (I'll be writing up what we can expect from his album in the next week or two).
For Lionhearted, Porter has producer Arty on remix duty, and the resulting track is what Lionhearted might've sounded like if Porter had created it a year or two ago.

Structurally, the track is identical to the original in almost every single way (minus an intro), so you'd be forgiven that this remix was a bit of a lazy job on Arty's part. But when you have such vivid and absorbing source material, why would you stray too far away? Instead, the whole track has simply been made dance floor ready. The kick hits harder, and the synths are cranked up, and the tempo has been increased to turn the original into a fully fledged banger. Thankfully, that fantastic chorus melody has been left intact here, and is given full prominence on top of a thumping bassline that drives the track along.
Whilst it would have been nice to see a bit more creativity for a good producer like Arty, you can't deny that his Lionhearted remix successfully cranks things up a notch or two and creates a more exciting track, one you certainly wouldn't object to hearing at a gig or on a night out.
