A lot of bold claims were made when this blog rocked into town. I told you that this would become a place for in-depth content and intelligent writing, and that there would be great features. I thought it would be good to lay out how this is going to be achieved, so that you maybe get a better understanding of what all of that means.
There's going to be lots of weekly features, pretty much one every day. Some of them will be focussed on the future, some on the past, and some on just having fun. Here's a run down of what's planned...
• The Monday Mix
To get your week started with a bang, we'll present to you one of our favourite mixes or live sets from the past week, and examine what makes it so good, and the artist behind it.
• Hot Topic Tuesday
EDM is a hotbed of contentious issues, interesting ideas, and good ol’ fashioned arguments. Each week, we’ll pick a different topic to examine and discuss. Who knows, maybe you’ll even feel enlightened by the time we’re done…
• The Octopus’ Crystal Ball (Wednesday)
We look forward to upcoming albums and other releases, and try to analyse what you can expect from them.
• Throwback Thursday
EDM can be incredibly disposable. Each Thursday, we look to reverse that by reminding you about an album or song that you might have forgotten about. It could only be a few months old, but the chances are you've already moved on. Don't.
• Feel-good Friday
A set of laid-back tracks to ease you into the weekend.
• Saturday Shenanigans
A set of high energy tracks to set your weekend off with a bang!
• Weekly Roundup (Sunday)
In case you missed anything, we roundup the best stuff on EO from the past 7 days.
This is a massive undertaking for me, and not something I've really ever done before. Those are just some of the plans I have for this blog, and there'll be more to come, with some album reviews and other features coming up soon (one of which is particularly exciting, and I'll let you in on soon...).
