The Monday Mix - Week 4
EO is here to get your week started with a bang, as we present to you one of our favourite mixes or live sets from the past week. It might not be a new mix, it could be a live set from a few years back, or it could be a mixtape from a few days ago. Either way, it you want an awesome selection of tunes wrapped up in a neat package, this is your place to come.
Sometimes we feature a mix because of how well it's been put together, how creative the transitions are, etc. And sometimes we feature a mix purely because of the awesome selection of tracks included. This week's #MondayMix definitely falls into the latter category, as we feature the album mix for Monstercat's latest compilation release, 018: Frontier. Click through to listen and find out more about it.
It's no secret that here at EO, we love Monstercat. It's such a fantastic label, and it plays host to some of the most creative releases throughout EDM. Oh, and they've got a totally awesome attitude towards copyright issues and sampling, fair use and the like.
Every couple of months, they gather together all of their recent releases for a new compilation album, and they recently released their 18th instalment, named Frontier. Each album also features a couple of mixes, and this week, we're featuring the Horizon Album Mix from the new release.
Whilst the mixing isn't incredibly interesting, the real highlight of this mix is the truly mind-blowing selection of tracks from label stalwarts such as Pegboard Nerds, Au5, Varien and Steven Walking. Many of the tracks have actually been featured on the blog, and reviewed very favourably, but it's nice to hear them again all wrapped up in a neat package.
If you've missed any of Monstercat's releases over the past couple of months, then this is essential listening. Get caught up with what the industry's most creative label has been putting out by listening to the mix - there's a fantastic variety of sounds and styles, from Dubstep to D&B to tracks that are so unique they simply can't be categorised. There really is something for everyone, so do yourself a favour - listen, and get your week started with a bang.
