GlobalGathering festival cancelled for 2015 [UPDATED]

UPDATE 27/10/14 00:13: It also appears that Angel Music Group, the organisers of GlobalGathering, have pulled their website offline, leading to speculation of financial difficulties for the company. We'll update if any further information comes to light. Original story follows:

One of the UK's largest dance music festivals has announced that it will not take place in 2015. GlobalGathering, which saw the likes of Chase & Status and The Prodigy headline this year's instalment, will be absent from next year's festival season, as the promoters look to review "all elements of the show".

Read on to find out more.

2014 saw the 13th instalment of GlobalGathering, and over the course of the last decade it has grown steadily to become one of the UK's most popular and successful dance music events, and has even seen the likes of Daft Punk perform in years gone by.

The news of the festival's cancellation for 2015 comes as a shock, as the festival itself had already been hyping up next year's event, and until just a few days ago had been asking fans to vote for GlobalGathering in this year's UK Festival Awards.

We're unsure as to when exactly this announcement was made, as there has been literally no coverage of the news across the internet, and nothing from any official channels. However, upon visiting GG's website, viewers are now presented with a short statement confirming the cancellation of next year's event, the entirety of which can be read below.

The news comes following this year's excellent festival, which took place during the year's hottest weekend, with temperatures soaring to around 30ºC. The festival was unfortunately marred, however, by what was only the second death throughout it's history, as a man from Coventry collapsed during the event and was unable to be resuscitated. A post-mortem has since discovered that this was due to a lethal cocktail of drugs. It is currently unclear whether this has influenced the organiser's decision regarding next year's festival in any way.

Despite the cancellation, the GlobalGathering brand will live on throughout 2015 with its international offshoots, and club events throughout the UK.

However, the official social media accounts for GG have, at some point within the last few days, been removed entirely.

EO was at this year's event, and a (delayed) full review of the festival is forthcoming.

We'll update this post if any more information comes to light.

GlobalGathering's Full Statement:

After 13 years of delivering one of the UK’s most successful electronic dance music events, the promoters of the GlobalGathering UK festival have decided that the festival will take a break in 2015 in order for all elements of the show to be reviewed ensuring GG remains at the heart of the UK dance market. This will not affect any of the GG club shows in the UK or international GG events. Thanks to all of our loyal fans for your continued support, please check the website for further updates.
