RIOT - Jazz Cat Funk (SirensCeol Remix)

The internet loves cats. If you're on the internet and you don't love cats, you're probably in the wrong place. If you're reading this and you don't love cats... well... stick around, maybe you'll surprise yourself.

RIOT released Jazz Cat Funk a little while ago now, an ultra funky track with super fun chords, piano, and the odd meow. Oh, and a hell of a lot of bass. Now, there's a remix package, and the effort that particularly stands out is the one by SirensCeol. He takes the original, brings up the tempo, and soups it up whilst retaining the best elements of the stellar original.

The remix moves along at quite a pace compared to the original. SirensCeol's main contribution has been to introduce a totally new melody line, which really sets off the buildup. And the drop? Well let's just say that when it does, you'll know about it. It's glitchy and heavy as hell, turning this remix into an absolute monster, but possibly not quite the one you expected.

There's then a brilliant switch to triplets for the second drop, with beats and bass ricocheting all over the place. I've not heard anything quite like it until now.

This reworking doesn't quite capture the fun of the original, however. It would've been quite nice to retain some of the feline samples that peppered the original track. Also largely missing is the epic bassline and piano motif - it would've been nice to hear some of this too, as they were the original's best parts.

Nevertheless, this a great effort from SirensCeol, a real crowd destroyer. Get listening above now - it's the cat's meow.
